Deseret First Credit Union has tapped former board chairman Clinton R. Gurney as its new president/CEO.

Gurney replaces Kris J. Mecham who will be serving as president of the Mongolia Ulaanbaatar mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Mecham will also leave an open seat when he exits the CUNA chairmanship.

The former LDS Church director of temporal affairs in the Pacific area joins the Salt lake City-based credit union following a career that has taken him around the world in a variety of financial and human resources positions. He retired from the Church in 2009 after 27 years of service. From 1969 to 1982, Gurney served in various controller and treasury positions at Eli Lilly & Co.
