The $350 million USC Credit Union was recently named the 2010 Financial Services Champion of the Year by the SBA's Los Angeles district office.
"Through the work of lenders and advocates like yourself, jobs are created, families live fuller lives and whole communities are transformed. I am grateful to see that USC Credit Union is being recognized for its important role in building the American economy. We all applaud your well deserved recognition," said Albert Alvarado, district director of the SBA Los Angeles district office.
USC CU said it launched its SBA program in 2007. According to the CU, it received the agency's recognition based on the amount and quality of assistance given to small businesses to obtain financing, advocacy for changes in the financial services industry to assist small companies and active support of legislative or regulatory action among other criteria.
