The 6,400 members of Torrance Community Credit Union in California can now use their iPhone cameras to deposit checks directly into their accounts.
The $92 million Torrance-based institution is offering the remote-deposit capture service through an interface between its core processor, Innovative Technology Inc. of Omaha, Neb., and check processor Eastern Corporate FCU of Burlington, Mass.
The free application is available at App Store and was developed by EasCorp subsidiary Vertifi Software LLC to interface with INTECH's mobile banking solution.
The service provides real-time posting of deposits and immediate access to check images, the companies and credit union said.
“This is the leading edge of remote deposit technology and an important addition to our online service delivery channel,” said TCCU President Steve Stoppel.
Stoppel said his credit union joined EasCorp to use the corporate's DeposZip RDC program and then found out about the development of the ?DeposZip Mobile program and asked the two organizations to create a solution for his credit union.
“It was a fairly easy development and one that will provide good value for TCCU and other INTECH customers. RDC is like many other technology services in the sense that early adopters are few and far between, but the service eventually becomes a utility that no bank or credit union can do without,” said INTECH's president, Tim Erwin,
EasCorp is now working on a similar application for the Google Android platform, said its President/CEO Jane Melchionda.
