Along with 10 other organizations in the Detroit area, Communicating Arts Credit Union adopted 24 families this past holiday season.Credit union employees helped to distribute 150 cases of nonperishables as well as a ham, turkey, a bag of apples and potatoes and a crate of clementines to each family. Each of the 101 kids from the 24 families got a new coat and one toy.Employees gathered at the credit union to collect the food and get put into teams to pick up the toys and coats. Each team delivered the goods to four or five houses.Communicating Arts also enlisted the help of a social service agency that was able to wipe away between $5,000 and $6,000 in back utility bills.Credit union CEO Hank Hubbard was featured on local television station WDIV talking about the credit union’s involvement in the charity event.“Pretty much everyone participated in something whether it was collecting donations or sorting canned goods.
