Connex Credit Union, North Haven, Conn., announced the certifications of several employees in the personal account representative designation program. The employees who received the certification were Rachel Carpenter, John Laczak, Ryan Jetmar, Charlie Dammling and Josh Howard. Also known as PARS, the certifications is a nationally recognized sales certification program that helps credit union employees develop and add strength and depth to their relationships with credit union members.
SOUTH
Grow Financial Federal Credit Union, Tampa, Fla., announced the promotion of Dona Svehla to senior vice president of loss prevention. In this position, she will be responsible for directing the collections, loss prevention, credit and quality control, along with the records and titles departments. Svehla joined the credit union in 2007 as vice president of loss prevention.
Keys Federal Credit Union, Key West, Fla., announced that Mary Ann Martin has been promoted to assistant branch manager at its Marathon Shores office. Martin joined the credit union as a teller and was promoted to teller/member service representative in 2008. She has over 30 years of customer service and management experience with Napa Auto Parts in Miami. The credit union also announced that Laura Washington, Peary Court branch manager, has been with the credit union for 10 years. Washington started at the credit union in 1999 as a high school intern. After she completed high school, she was hired as teller and moved quickly through the ranks. During her 10 years with the credit union Washington has held various member service positions, including member service representative and assistant branch manager. In 2005, she was promoted to branch manager.
Kennedy Space Center Federal Credit Union, Merritt Island, Fla., announced that its board of directors appointed Maureen Lowe as president/CEO. Following the departure of Janice Hollar, Lowe was named acting president/CEO and was confirmed to the position at the meeting of the board. She came to the credit union in 1981 and began as a teller. Lowe attended college while working at the credit union and obtained a bachelor's degree in accounting from Florida Southern University.
Card Services for Credit Unions, Clearwater, Fla., announced the appointment of Andrea Moore to communications manager. Prior to joining the credit union, Moore was a public relations and marketing manager in the nonprofit sector. Her educational background includes a bachelor's degree in public relations and a master's degree in business management from the University of Florida.
El Paso Employees Federal Credit Union, El Paso, Texas, announced the promotion of Michael Garcia to manager of its University branch. Garcia brings several years experience in operations and lending and is presently pursuing a degree in business administration at the University of Phoenix.
Smart Financial Credit Union, Houston, announced promotions within its management team. Benny Castro was promoted to director of security. Matt Oltremari was promoted to director of marketing. Glenda Gatlin and Rodney Jackson were both promoted to assistant vice president of business development.
MIDWEST
Heritage Federal Credit Union, Newburgh, Ind., announced that director JoAnn Jacob Krantz received the designation of certified credit union volunteer from the CUNA Volunteer Certification Program. The program provides a convenient, practical way to become certified in the areas of credit union governance, safety and soundness, CEO oversight, strategic planning, board operations and development. In order to keep the certification active volunteers have continuing educational requirements that must be met.
WEST
Wauna Federal Credit Union, Clatskanie, Ore., announced the hiring of Ethan Morris as vice president of lending. Morris attended Boise State University and the University of Lending. He brings nine years of senior management and supervisory experience, 12 years of credit union experience and 14 years of lending authority. Morris also has seven years of collections and loss recovery experience, and seven years of operations experience.
Numerica Credit Union, Spokane, Wash., announced the hiring of Christina Burns as a business banking officer. Burns has 20 years of experience in the financial industry. Her experience includes management and executive levels of business development, personal banking and commercial lending.
SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union, Santa Ana, Calif., announced that Robert Martinez has been promoted to vice president of collections. Martinez has been with SchoolsFirst since 1992 and has held the positions, director of telephone service center, director of consumer loans, assistant manager of consumer loans and branch supervisor.
