President Obama used CUNA's 75th anniversary to praise the work of credit unions.

In a letter sent last week, Obama wrote that he congratulated "credit unions for their dedication to excellence in their work and to serving individuals and families in their communities."

He noted that when Congress created the federal credit union charter in 1934 and it was signed into law by President Franklin D. Roosevelt it paved the way for accessible credit throughout the country.
