The Dothan, Ala.-based Five Star Credit Union is building a presence in Georgia with a newly-approved community charter.

The $168 million Five Star recently received a community charter to serve the estimated 28,000 residents of Decatur County, Ga. With the new field of membership, this marks the credit union's fourth location in the Peach State. Five Star has branches in Donalsonville, Cairo and Cedar Springs, Ga. in addition to locations in Eufaula and Dothan, Ala.

Established in 1964, the credit union serves approximately 16,000 members.
