In the discussions of alternative capital between CUNA and NAFCU (cutimes.com, Sept. 28), CUNA is once again wrong in trying to let credit unions get TARP funds. Do you want more government involvement in your lives? Then go for the TARP funds. If you want less government intervention, run from “help” from the government. The best solution is having credit union leaders mentor others credit union leaders. We have to ask: Do we take more satisfaction and put more energy in mergers rather than in helping the credit union movement as a whole? If the answer is yes, greed is now a cancer that has entered the credit union movement. It is time for some of us to go in for strong radiation treatment to rid us of greed and replace it once again with a culture of service and sacrifice.
