NAFCU announced that it laid off three full-time employees today and is eliminating one part-time position by year-end. Additionally, another vacant position will be eliminated.

"Through judicious belt-tightening and careful budget management, NAFCU remains on track to end 2009 in the black," according to Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications Jay Morris. He added that the positions eliminated were support positions and should not affect member benefits.

"With the changes we have made today, we feel confident that we will also be able to balance our budget in 2010," Morris added. "NAFCU has prided itself on being fiscally responsible. We have always lived within our means and been prudent managers of our members' money. These are forward-thinking steps that will prepare us for what we anticipate will be another very tough year for our industry in 2010."
