Two ATM skimmers from Bulgaria face years in federal prison after pleading guilty to skimming tens of thousands of dollars from U.S. consumers at ATMs.
According to court documents, Yordan Kavaklov and Nikolay Nikolov have pled guilty to multiple felony charges stemming from using a skimming device at ATMs to collect the card numbers from unsuspecting ATM users and a small camera to record their personal identification numbers.
The information was then downloaded from the devices and cameras and converted into the card and their corresponding PIN numbers. The thieves then encoded the card information onto stolen gift cards from Atlanta, Georgia, area retailers and use them at ATMs to empty checking accounts.
