The status of federal and state regulations, proposals to overhaul the credit union system and a celebration of the 100th anniversary of credit unions in the United States are all topics of NASCUS' State System Summit in Boston this week.

The conference, which will be held at the Westin Boston Waterfront, begins Thursday with an educational session for credit union volunteers. The conference will include speeches by NCUA Vice Chairman Rodney Hood, NCUA Board Member Gigi Hyland, and FDIC Board Member Thomas Curry.

There will be sessions on topics such as mortgage lending, the state of private insurance and the unrelated business income tax.

The conference will also include a dinner celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the first credit union in the United States.

On Saturday morning, the conference will conclude with a panel discussion on supplemental capital and other proposals for changing the way the credit union system operates.
