New Jersey Credit Union League President/CEO Paul Gentile recently talked up the credit union difference on the local “It’s Your Money” personal finance show. Gentile’s episode aired all across New Jersey on News 12 June 27 and 28. “With our potential membership at over nine million people here in New Jersey, the more we can do to educate the population, the greater the increase in credit union membership will be,” Gentile said. During the show he focused on the benefits of belonging to a credit union. In addition, Gentile discussed the public deposits bill the league has been pushing in Trenton and stressed the importance of the NJCUL’s statewide advertising initiative Banking You Can Trust. The multimedia advertising campaign utilizes print, radio and television outlets and takes a bare-bones approach to explaining what credit unions are and how they can help consumers. “We play off of the word trust because trust is so important today given the events in the financial services industry. We also utilize ‘banking’ to instantly explain what we do. Credit unions offer low-cost, high-quality banking services. We have to convey those basics to consumers,” Gentile said. –[email protected]
