State Employees' Credit Union in Raleigh, N.C., was the first place winner of the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award and the Louise A. Herring Award for Philosophy in Action.

Both awards were presented to the credit union at a banquet held this week.

SECU won the Dora Maxwell award in the over $500 million-asset category for its statewide participation in the volunteer income tax assistance program. Each of SECUs branches provided free income tax preparation for qualified residents.
