A CNN segment recently helped connect Municipal Credit Union in New York City to a member to help him achieve his dream of owning a home.

Municipal Vice President of Real Property Anie Lewis saw member Victor Guevares on CNN after he won the bid on a home at a foreclosure auction. Lewis recognized Municipal's logo on the $5,000 certified check Guevares used as a good-faith deposit.

Lewis immediately contacted Guevares to ask what the credit union could do to help him. Guevares applied for a mortgage through Municipal and was approved the next day.

Houses purchased in a foreclosure auction have a 30-day window for the buyer to actually close the loan from appraisal through closing. Municipal helped Guevares close on his home within the deadline.

"It was an amazing experience from beginning to end; I was treated like a family member at MCU, not just an account number," Guevares said.
