A new application from software developer Intuit offers the promise of expanding the market where consumers can use their cards.

Intuit, the developer of the accounting program QuickBooks, calls the program GoPayment. GoPayment will allow small businesses, freelancers and entrepreneurs to accept cards as payment on the spot as long as they have a connection through a mobile phone. The card-swipe device has a small printer for printing receipts and can be worn on a belt or set on a table. Receipts for the transactions can also be sent to a consumer’s e-mail.
