After 70 years, there is a new name on the horizon for Teachers Federal Credit Union.

Effective June 1, the credit union will be known as TruStone Financial Federal Credit Union.

According to CEO Matt Wohlers, the name change is a result of some two years of research delving into how to better serve more of the community. He says the new name is designed with an eye on helping the Plymouth, Minnesota-based credit union stand out from the competition by showcasing its dedication to teaching consumers about money.

The new brand image ties back to the credit union's roots of teaching the value of financial education and discipline when consumers in 1939 were faced with increasing unemployment, a weak economy and tightened credit.

The hope is that TruStone Financial will help Teachers FCU grow from being known as a credit union for teachers to a credit union that teaches.
