Connex Credit Union, North Haven, Conn., has been recognized by the Connecticut Credit Union Association as the No. 1 credit union in the state of Connecticut for its participation in raising money for the Adopt-A-Bear program. Members donated $5 to adopt a bear, with 375 bears purchased. A total of $1,875 was donated to the program.
Redwood Credit Union, Santa Rosa, Calif., has been honored with the best practices award from the Sonoma County Business Environmental Alliance. Programs include: a recycling plan and green educational information that can be found on the credit unions Web site.
Ledge Light Federal Credit Union, Groton, Conn., received the award of merit from the CUNA marketing and business development council in the "Diamond in the Rough" category. The credit union demonstrated excellent results and originality with a restricted budget for its "Stock Market Got You Stuck This Winter?" campaign.
Bethpage Federal Credit Union, Bethpage, N.Y., announced Linda Armyn, the vice president of corporate development and governmental affairs, as the recipient of the first Lee E. Koppelman Community Leadership award. Armyn was recognized for her efforts on behalf of Long Island, its institutions, causes and communities. The award was presented by the Long Island Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
Clearwater Federal Credit Union, Pittsburgh, celebrated its fifth consecutive year winning a Gold Readers' Choice award for best credit union in the west region of Pittsburgh. The prize was awarded by The Pittsburgh Tribute Review and Gateway Newspapers.

The credit union won the category for its entry "Plastic Surgery Switch & Save." The promotion encouraged members to transfer their credit card balances to a LFCU credit card account.
Arkansas Federal Credit Union, Jacksonville, Ark., has been recognized the Arkansas business of the year. The award given by Arkansas Business magazine. The credit union was selected from more than 125 nominations. Larry Biernacki, the CEO/president of AFCU, accepted the award on behalf of the credit union.
Ent Federal Credit Union, Colorado Springs, Colo., was recognized by the Pikes Peak United Way for its United Way fundraising campaign with the spirit of caring award. The award was presented at the annual PPUW campaign celebration luncheon. The award is given to organizations that execute successful internal campaigns, have significant volunteer efforts and demonstrate strong overall community support.
Afena Federal Credit Union, Marion, Ind., was recently honored with a diamond award. The award recognizes outstanding marketing and business development achievements in the credit union industry. The award was presented by CUNA Marketing and Business Development Council, a national network composed of more than 1,000 credit union marketing and business development professionals. Award winners were recognized at the council's 16th annual conference held in San Diego.
State Center Credit Union, Fresno, Calif., recently announced its 50th anniversary this year. Incorporated in 1959, the credit union began with 74 members and $22,000 in assets. SCCU is dedicated to providing competitive financial products and services with outstanding personal service.
Anheuser-Busch Employees Credit Union, St. Louis, announced that Danielle Bond, a mortgage loan counselor, has been awarded the lender of the year from the International Institute of St. Louis. Bond received the award at a recognition banquet.
