The current economy may have sparked a demand for financial planning careers. The College for Financial Planning has responded by cutting its "foundations in financial planning" course cost from $785 to $385.

The course, which is the college's second more popular class behind its certified financial planning program, offers students education in investing, time value of money, budgeting, taxes, retirement planning, life and health insurance, employee benefits, including 401(k) and individual retirement accounts and estate planning.

Classes are offered online and at night for six weeks. The online, instructor-led version is now $485, discounted from $985. The self-study course is now $385, discounted from $785. At the end of the course, students take a national exam and can then elect to continue their efforts to earn a registered paraplanner designation by completing an approved internship.
