A meeting with his party's newest Senator, a town hall meeting in a swing state and a nationally televised news conference are among the events President Obama to attend to mark his 100th day in office today.

He is scheduled to meet with Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pa.), whose announcement that he is switching parties brings the Democrats closer to the 60 votes needed to break a filibuster. Vice President Biden, a close friend of Specter's who was quite active in the effort to recruit him into the party, is also scheduled to attend.

Obama is holding a town hall meeting in the St. Louis suburb of Arnold. Missouri is a swing state that Obama will work to switch into the Democratic column if he seeks another term. Missouri is also going to be the scene for a high-profile Senate race next year because Sen. Christopher Bond (R-Mo.) is retiring.

At 8:00 p.m. EDT, Obama is scheduled to hold a news conference, his third since taking office.

Other administration officials are also holding events to publicize policy goals. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner is slated to meet with Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.) and representatives of consumer groups to discuss legislation on credit cards that the House is scheduled to consider tomorrow.
