ASI Federal Credit Union opened its new full-service bilingual branch that serves New Orleans' Spanish-speaking residents as well as the credit unions overall membership.The branch located in Mid-City offers both Spanish and English materials to members. The credit union held an open house and a grand opening celebration along with a formal ceremony and ribbon cutting.Throughout the event, a mariachi band played music and a local vendor provided Latin-inspired food. After the ceremony, ASI had a pi?ata for the young attendees.City Councilmember Shelley Midura and State Representative Austin Badon Jr. attended the event along with Darlene Kattan from the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Martin Gutierrez from the Catholic Charities and the Hispanic Apostolate of the Archdiocese of New Orleans.ASI is a Community Development Financial Institution and was established in 1961 to serve the employees of Avondale Shipyards, Inc.
