WASHINGTON — The National Institutes of Health Federal Credit Union will donate $2 to George Washington University's Cancer Institute for every point scored by the school's men's and women's basketball team during all in-conference home games throughout the 2008-2009 season, the credit union announced today.

“Partnering with the GW Cancer Institute was a perfect way for us to support the important work the university is doing on behalf of cancer research–and do so in a fun way,” said Steven S. Levin, NIHFCU's vice president for marketing.

“We are delighted to be working with the NIH Federal Credit Union. Creative programs like this one not only raise valuable funds that further our research and community outreach efforts, but also awareness about the importance of cancer education, prevention and early detection,” said Dr. Steven Patierno, executive director of the GW Cancer Institute.

The home conference schedule begins January 10 for the school's men's team and January 14 for the women's team.
