ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The generosity of NCUA's employees has been recognized by the federal government's main fundraising effort, the Combined Federal Campaign.

NCUA Chairman Michael E. Fryzel accepted the National Capital Area's President's Award on behalf of employees of the agency's central and Region II office staffs.

The President's Award–the highest CFC award given to an agency–is granted when an agency has at least 75% employee participation in the CFC or $275 per capita gift. During 2008, NCUA's Central and Region II office staffs gave an average CFC gift of $506, with a participation rate of 72.4%.

“Volunteerism is the most critical element for success of charitable groups,” Fryzel said. “Whether you volunteer time to feed the hungry or volunteer donations through the CFC to purchase food for the hungry, it is the act of voluntarily giving that makes the effort a success.”

Carol Campbell, the CFC loan executive assigned to NCUA, presented Fryzel with the award agency's 2009 CFC campaign kick-off.

NCUA's Region II office is in Alexandria and covers Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.
