SACRAMENTO, Calif. — RaAnn Wood has been named deputy commissioner of the division of credit unions at the California Department of Financial Institutions, filling a vacancy that has existed for several months.

Wood is currently president and chief executive officer of $8.6 million California Center Credit Union, which serves mostly California-based credit union industry employees, including the California Credit Union League, Financial Service Centers Cooperative, CO-OP Network, Credit Union Direct Lending and Western Corporate FCU.

Wood previously worked as professional networks manager for the California Credit Union League from 1997 to 2004. From 1993 to 1997 she was a mortgage loan compliance officer for Provident Savings Bank, and from 1986 to 1993 she served as assistant vice president of training and compliance for Heritage Thrift and Loan.

“RaAnn brings to the position a depth and breadth of knowledge about both credit union philosophy and credit union operations,” Bill Cheney, California League president and CEO said. “She will serve with distinction in providing direction to California's regulatory agency for state chartered credit unions.”

Wood will remain with California Center CU through Nov. 21st, and will assume her new role at the DFI shortly thereafter.
