MANCHESTER, N.H.– How far would your credit union go to spread the word about credit unions?

To draw some national attention to its 100th anniversary, St. Mary's Bank aimed high-to get "Today Show" co-anchor Meredith Vieira to head to New Hampshire and join in the centennial celebration.

Not only did the credit union create a special video describing the history of St. Mary's Bank and its importance to the community and featuring several people, including Mayor Frank Guinta, inviting Vieira to come to Manchester and do a profile on St. Mary's, but they opted to deliver the video in person.

A team of St. Mary's staffers traveled five hours to Manhattan, stood in front of the "Today Show" each holding a paper mask that looked like Meredith Vieira. The bid for attention worked as Al Roker and Ann Curry soon sported the masks on camera and asked to keep them.

As for Vieira, she greeted the St. Mary's contingent and accepted some token gifts, including an anniversary coin set with silver dollars from both 1908 and 2008 as well as packets of Manchester locals' favorite Dell's Lemonade for her to enjoy.
