PLYMOUTH, Mich. — The Michigan Credit Union League is making a documentary video about a real family that faced foreclosure and was helped by a credit union and credit union partners.

The professionally produced 50-minute video will also offer tips on money management and include speakers such as a certified housing counselor, representatives from the Michigan Credit Union League, United Way and other community experts.

The video will be available on the Web sites of the Michigan Credit Union League, individual credit unions, Michigan State University Extension and the United Way.

In addition, 8,000 DVDs will be produced so as to reach those who do not have Internet access and will be distributed to league-affiliated credit unions, legislators, public libraries and public access television stations.

The National Credit Union Foundation is providing $43,828 in grant funds.

Michigan is one of five states where the overall foreclosure rate is the highest in the nation.
