SAN FRANCISCO — Now that Wells Fargo appears to have won the battle to purchase Wachovia, the resulting bank will launch another large ATM network. According to press reports and estimates, the new network will include between 12,000 and 12,400 ATM machines.

The takeover of Washington Mutual by JPMorgan Chase has brought about an ATM network of 14,000 ATMs.

The Federal Reserve approved the merger of the two banks on Oct. 12.
