Mid-Atlantic Federal Credit Union, Germantown, Md., was selected as a workplace excellence award winner by the Alliance for Workplace Excellence for the second year in a row. In order to be considered for the award, Mid-Atlantic had to complete an assessment that was reviewed by an independent review panel of professors, Ph.D. professionals and Ph.D. students of business, industrial and organization psychology and human resources.
HAR-CO Maryland Federal Credit Union, Bel Air, Md., supported the 14th annual Harford County Public Schools teacher of the year awards. HAR-CO provided each of the ten teachers nominated with a $1,200 individual award. Ronald Wooden was selected the winner of the award for his dedication and teaching philosophy.
North Carolina Credit Union League, Greensboro, N.C., announced its statewide award winners. The mark of excellence award was given to Patty Idol, president/CEO Mountain Credit Union, and Clyde Padgett, volunteer at Truliant Federal Credit Union. The Ronald J. Hutchins credit union person of the year awards were given to Maurice Smith, president/CEO of Local Government Federal Credit Union for career person of the year and to John Herrera, chairman of Latino Community Credit Union, for the volunteer person of the year. The Louise Herring philosophy in action award was given to Local Government Federal Credit Union. The Desjardins youth financial education award was given to State Employees’ Credit Union and Winston-Salem City Employees’ Credit Union. The Dora Maxwell social responsibility award was given to State Employees’ Credit Union, Fort Bragg Federal Credit Union, Members Credit Union, Telco Community Credit Union and Greensboro Municipal Credit Union.
