NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Langley Federal Credit Union President/CEO Jean Yokum has reached a credit union milestone of celebrating 55 years at the credit union.

Yokum started as a teller at Langley in 1953 and became president/CEO in 1979. Yokum has led Langley to grow to serve over 160,000 members and rank as one of the top 100 credit unions in the nation.

Yokum also started six new in-school savings programs and created a member education center that provides financial literacy seminars for the community. She also created a program called Financial Learning in Progress that teaches young adults, Langley Saves, CreditBuilder and a payday loan alternative that has saved members over $2 million in fees.
