BETHESDA, Md. — Allpoint Network, the nationwide ATM network which provides ATM access surcharge free to the cardholder in exchange for a fee from the card issuer, will move into more than 5,500 ATMs in 7-Eleven stores around the country.

"The addition of 7-Eleven demonstrates Allpoint's commitment to enhancing value for the member institution and convenience for the cardholder," said Ben Psillas, founder and president of Allpoint. "The integration of ATMs at these outlets brings another premium set of locations that we own through our parent company, Cardtronics."

The move brings Allpoint into the same space that is already served by CO-OP Network and leaves some credit unions that participate in both with not one but two surcharge-free options for their members in that space.

"Credit unions in those situations are going to have to decide how they want to route those transactions," said Psillas. "I expect there will be advantages for some to route them using Allpoint and for others to use the CO-OP."
