WASHINGTON — Completing his meetings with the heads of the top credit union trade associations, NCUA Chairman Michael E. Fryzel met today with NAFCU President Fred R. Becker Jr. and NASCUS President and CEO Mary Martha Fortney.

Though the subject matters discussed during the meetings were not revealed, Fryzel praised the efforts of both groups in representing the interests of their members.

“The credit union voice in Washington is heard more clearly because of NAFCU's dedication and prominence. This early opportunity to hear from leaders within the credit union community is invaluable,” Fryzel said. “During my days as a state regulator in Illinois, I found NASCUS to be an essential and vital resource, and I look forward to a good working relationship becoming even better.”

Fryzel 's first speech since becoming NCUA chairman was at NASCUS' annual meeting last week in Seattle. His second speech is scheduled for NAFCU's Congressional Caucus, which meets during the third week of September.

Fryzel met with CUNA President and CEO Dan Mica earlier this month.
