GOLDEN, Colorado — After several months of work by the credit union community and its partners, CUNA presented the keys to a new home to Iraq War Veteran Travis Strong today.

“Nothing can personify what credit unions are all about more than what's happening here,” CUNA President Dan Moca said during the ceremony.

The home is custom equipped for Strong, who lost both legs while serving in Iraq.

“Wow, I didn't expect this. It's special,” he said after touring the furnished home with his wife and two children.

The home is one of 30 homes for injured war veterans, whose construction is coordinated by Homes for our Troops, a Boston-area based non profit.

In addition to the new home, Strong got an extra bit of good news this week. Last night Lockheed Martin offered him a job as a management trainee at their Littleton facility, about 35 miles from here.
