MADISON, Wis. — Twelve community development credit union leaders have been graduated from the National Federation Of Community Development Credit Unions CDCU Institute.
The leaders completed a three year program that the Foundation said aims to teach them improve service to the communities while growing their credit unions and building connections that support their work. Each year's program lasts a week.
Clifford Rosenthal, the Federation's President & CEO, gave the commencement address at this year's graduation. "The credit union movement in particular, and America in general, is at a turning point. We face multiple crises that represent the great challenges of today: the crisis in banking, the economy, healthcare, and last but not least, the environment. The Federation is proud to graduate this year's class. We believe that they will use their most important resource–their members' trust–to grow their credit unions and make the world a better place," he said.
The 2008 graduates of were Derrick Cameron (Self-Help CU, Durham, NC); Edgar Cosner (The United FCU, Morgantown, WV); Eric Cowell (Toledo Urban FCU, Toledo, OH); Maria Estrella (Bethex FCU, Bronx, NY); Gloria Feliciano (Community Trust FCU, (Apopka, FL); Renee Llorens (Our Mother of Mercy CU, Houston, TX); Evelyn Ramos Santiago (Lower East Side People's FCU, New York, NY); Patti Robertson-Panduro (Kern Central FCU, Bakersfield, CA); Saundra Scales (First Legacy FCU, (Charlotte, NC); Sherley Soto (Lower East Side People's FCU, New York, NY); Shirley Spruill (Renaissance Community Development CU Somerset, NJ); and (Meagan Weatherby Cooperative Federal, Syracuse, NY).
