WASHINGTON — CUNA President Dan Mica and NCUA Chairman Michael E. Fryzel met last week, their first get together since Fryzel took office earlier this month.

Fryzel said he looked forward to working with credit union industry groups on a variety of issues.

“As the regulator charged with ensuring the safety and soundness of the nation’s federal credit unions, I appreciate the important role that CUNA and all trade organizations play within the credit union industry,” Fryzel said in a statement. “The services offered and training CUNA provides have been an integral part of the federal credit union system since the 1934 inception of both NCUA and CUNA. I look forward to an eventful 2009, as we celebrate 75 years of regulating and serving federally chartered credit unions” Neither NCUA nor CUNA described the details of their conversation.
