Wauna Federal Credit Union, Vernonia, Ore., announced that its Vernonia branch was honored with the business of the year award from the Vernonia Chamber of Commerce. The award is voted on by members of the chamber and is based on the businesses contribution to the community. The Vernonia branch participates in events held by the chamber that include the annual scarecrow competition, which Wauna has won twice, and most of the parades. The branch also attends chamber meetings and supports the buy local theme.
Arlington Virginia Federal Credit Union, Arlington, Va., was presented with an ABBIE award at the 13th annual ABBIES award ceremony sponsored by the Arlington Chamber of Commerce and the Arlington Economic Development Commission. The ABBIES recognize businesses that deliver exceptional quality of service, are industry leaders or offer a unique approach to delivery of their goods and services, and display an interest in, and concern for, the Arlington community.
Greater Warren Credit Union, Warren, Ohio, presented the Mickey Wilson spirit of giving award to member Clayton Lohry at its annual meeting. Lohry was given the award for his generosity, mentoring and volunteerism in the community. Lohry is president and a founding member of the Northeast Warren Neighborhood Association, a member of the Raymond J. Wean Neighborhood Success grant committee, board member with the Warren Community and Clergy Coalition and a member of Warren Grows. Lohry also volunteers for the Downtown Warren Business Association, the Historic Perkins Neighborhood Association and the Community Safety Initiative. The award is presented every two years to a credit union member who best demonstrates a giving spirit through community service, volunteering and philanthropy.
