WASHINGTON — NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson will stay in her post until Aug. 1, even though her successor Michael E. Fryzel was confirmed last week.
Johnson, whose term expired last August but stayed on at the request of President Bush, will preside over the next NCUA board meeting on July 24. Fryzel is wrapping up personal and professional matters and his swearing in has not been scheduled.
She has served on the board for six years and been chairman for four. The Bush administration has said they will designate Fryzel as chairman.
His tenure could be short lived, however, since each president can name a new chairman though he will stay on the board regardless. His term runs through 2013.
