ALBANY, N.Y. — The New York Credit Union Foundation has appointed three new individuals to its board of trustees.

The new board members include CUNA Mutual Group Sales Manager Jeff Davenport, Municipal CU Board Member Shirley Jenkins and Family First of NY FCU CEO Christine Peters.

Davenport has been CUNA Mutual Group's sales manager of the East Region since 2001. He is currently ranked the No. 2 sales manager in the country. Davenport previously worked for County FCU in Maine and climbed his way up the ranks to president/CEO in 1999. He has a master's degree in business management graduating with honors from Husson College in Maine and has been working for credit unions for the last 11 years. Before working for credit unions, Davenport worked a total of nine years at both Fleet Bank and Key Bank in Maine, mostly as a branch manager. He is currently on the board of the Massachusetts Share Insurance Corp.

Peters served as chief financial officer of Family First of NY FCU for eight years prior to being named CEO in January 2006. In addition to over 14 years in the credit union industry, she has also worked at PriceWaterhouse and Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Peters holds both certified public accountant and certified internal auditor desiganations, along with the certified chief executive designation that she earned by completing the CUES CEO Institute program. She is the current chair of the finance committee for the Eastside YMCA board of managers and an active member of the Rochester Women's Network and CEO Fellows Group.

Jenkins, a member of Municipal CU's board of directors since 1983, has the distinction of becoming the first female board president in the history of Municipal CU. She currently serves as its legislative chair and is in constant contact with legislative leaders concerning credit union issues. In 2007, Jenkins was appointed to the newly formed National Directors Advisory Panel. In 2005, she was inducted into the New York State credit union Hall of Fame. Jenkins is a member of the New York State Black Women's Political Caucus and a founding member of the African-American Credit Union Coalition.

The New York Credit Union Foundation serves those who help improve the financial literacy and independence of New Yorkers.
