WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. — One of the homes seen on TV news clips Monday breaking up and collapsing into Lake Delton during disastrous weekend flooding belongs to Thomas Pekar, former chairman of Southshore CU of Cudahy, it was reported Tuesday.

"It's all very sad for Tom who has lost his retirement dream home," said Chris Rosland, president/CEO of Southshore, whose board members have already been organizing to figure out what assistance they can provide to the former Cudahy math teacher who had been in the Lake Delton home about three years.

The $380,000 home was one of three which fell into the lake following flooding of a road channel near the homes. Two other homes on the lake property were severely damaged, but Pekar's was the one shown in dramatic network video crumbling in two and falling into the lake.

"He had sold vacation property elsewhere just so he and his wife could retire in that home which they loved," said Rosland who had not talked to Pekar directly. Pekar who served as Southshore chair 15 years, retiring in 2007 served for many years as a chapter president of the Wisconsin Credit Union League.
