CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The heads continued to roll yesterday in reaction to poor decisions made at major banks roiled by losses from the housing downturn as Wachovia Corp. tossed its chief executive Ken Thompson.
Thompson has company, as he now joins Merrill Lynch & Co's Stanley O'Neal and Citigroup's Charles Prince. Yesterday, Bank of America picked its own Barbara J. Desoer to head up Countrywide Financial Corp., ditching heir apparent to Chairman Angelo Mozillo, David Sambol.
