WASHINGTON–Saying he is a "friend and fan of member-owned credit unions," the Virginia Credit Union League is backing former Gov. Mark Warner for the open U.S. Senate seat there.
Warner, is the Democratic nominee in the race to replace retiring U.S. Sen. John Warner (R-Va.), who is not related to Mark Warner, this November. The GOP nominee is former Gov. Jim Gilmore.
"He is a proven leader with a vision for a stronger America and a commitment to results-oriented government that transcends partisan politics," said Virginia Credit Union League President Rick Pillow. "We know too that Gov. Warner shares our view that everyday people can make a difference in their communities and nation."
