SEATTLE — Jeffry Pilcher, creative director and strategist at Weber Marketing Group the last eight years and who has played a role in some of the biggest credit union rebranding campaigns, is going out on his own this month to form an on-line branding firm, publication and blog.
"Credit union leaders need real-world examples of branding and marketing issues and my publication will provide all kinds of ideas and practical advice," said Pilcher who has launched the online Financial Brand under his consulting firm, ICONiQ, (www.iconiq.com).
Financial Brand, which will be targeted to both banks and CUs, is built, he said, "for the next generation of blog readers–the people that aren't really utilizing blogs today–which is why the site is clean, super-simple and less intimidating to new visitors by eliminating conventional clutter you see on most blogs."

Pilcher, who helped design the successful Red Canoe rebrand two years ago at the former Weyerhaeuser CU of Longview, Wash., said he will remain under contract with the Seattle-based Weber Marketing "as their Brand Strategist but being independent" can pursue a consulting business.
Making a distinction that Financial Brand will not "compete with the other thought leaders already in the credit union blogosphere," he said that "quite the contrary, there will be a lot more nuts-and-bolts reporting and analysis than philosophic musings and prognosticating."
