LATHAM, N.Y. — A group of credit union leaders along with New York State Credit Union League representatives met with State Senate Minority Leader Malcolm Smith (D-Metropolitan) to talk with him on credit union issues and the importance of New York credit unions.
The group met for an information breakfast in New York City to discuss depository choice, the Exelsior Linked Deposit Program and the Banking Development District Program.
"Smaller, more personal events like this breakfast with Sen. Smith are just another way to give our credit union leaders more one-on-one opportunities to network and advocate with influential state leaders on issues important to them and to credit unions across the state," said William J. Mellin, president/CEO of the New York league. "After hearing from the collective, the Senator appeared to be very interested in helping credit unions move those initiatives forward."

Mellin, Michael Lanotte, senior vice president/general counsel, and Amy Kramer, vice president governmental affairs represented the league at the breakfast.
