NEW YORK — Municipal Credit Union is a big fan of the Civil Service Sports Series and will continue its sponsorship for 2008.
The series consists of the FDNY/NYPD hockey game played in April, the NYPD/FDNY Fun City Bowl football game in June and the annual NYPD/FDNY baseball game played in August. This is the second year that MCU has supported these contests between uniformed services.
"MCU is honored to again sponsor the Civil Service Sports Series," said MCU President/CEO Kam Wong. "Helping our members and their families achieve their dreams is what MCU is all about. From helping new recruits buy their first uniforms to helping them buy their first homes, MCU will always be there to support our municipal workers the way they support our city every day."

Besides supporting the games themselves, various police and firefighter charities benefit from proceeds generated by the sports series.
"It is great to have MCU sponsoring our game again," said NYPD Detective Bryan Kenny, manager of the NY's Finest Hockey Club. "This is our teams' 35th anniversary, and it's really great to see MCU, our other sponsors and all our fans and family come out for us. It really adds to the event."
MCU's sponsorship is also appreciated by the FDNY teams.
"MCU has been a great addition to our family of sponsors," said Lt. Michael Rossidis (Ret.), manager of FDNY Hockey Team. "Their generosity has helped support many of our charities including the Fire & Police Widows and Children's Fund."
The sporting events offer real big league excitement with the hockey game played on N.Y. Islander home ice at the Nassau Coliseum to a sell out crowd of 10,000 enthusiastic fans. Teams practice and plan all year for these contests and take them very seriously.
As police officers and firefighters clash for a cause, MCU staffers are in the wings, visible and available with special offers, applications and giveaways. The 2008 hockey game was taken by the NYPD 7 to FDNY 5.
The Civil Service Sports series is part of a broad and unified effort by MCU to get its staff and financial services closer to the members that they serve.
