SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Credit unions participating in their league's California Government Relations Rally have a very timely issue to discuss with their legislators today.

Keri Bailey, league director of state government affairs, announced to GRR attendees this morning that AB 1779, league-sponsored data security legislation, is scheduled for tomorrow's assembly appropriations committee hearing.

According to Vice President of Public Affairs Henry Kertman, the league is delighted with the timing, and has high hopes the bill will be heard on the assembly floor as early as next week.

Kertman said this year's lobby event has drawn around 160 credit union representatives, down slightly from last year. He said a "full slate of representatives" are available in Sacramento for lobby appointments today, about 80 assembly members and 40 state senators, and said AB 1779 is at the top of the group's hot topic list.
