SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The Golden 1 Credit Union announced a new compliance program that is designed to help Shapiro Group credit unions in California stay current on required compliance, security and operational training.

"Credit unions were founded on a cooperative philosophy," said president/CEO Teresa Halleck. "Applying our resources to help smaller credit unions can only help the credit union movement as a whole."

Called the CU Comply program, it helps smaller credit unions provide training to staff. Through the Internet, the program provides credit unions access to hundreds of training and testing modules to use when and where it's most convenient.

"The Golden 1 is pleased to be able to offer this program to other credit unions here in California," said Halleck. "Through CU Comply, we hope to foster an atmosphere where credit unions can work together to help each other grow and prosper."

The Golden 1 CU has 6.7 billion in assets and more than 680,000 members.
