MELBOURNE, Fla. — The $1.5 billion Space Coast Credit Union has teamed up with Adam Wickwire, an acclaimed local surfer, to help promote their debit card program. CU members will now be able to get a Space Coast debit card that carries an image of Wickwire riding a wave.

Wickwire has won several championships and is on competitive surf teams. The CU said it began linking its ATM and debit card programs with the local surf and skateboard culture several years ago when it put a generic, stock, surf picture on its debit card. Since then the CU has begun to sponsor several local youth surf clubs and added other surf and skateboard image options to its debit cards.

According to NCUA records, the number of Space Coast's share draft accounts rose from roughly 68,000 as of December 2003 to roughly 94,000 as of December 2007.
