GREEN BAY, Wis. — The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin has announced that District Judge William Griesbach will oversee the case between the $947 million Community First Credit Union and the Internal Revenue Service.

The CU sued the IRS over the more than $54,000 that it paid in federal taxes on unrelated business income, business income which the IRS has suggested is not tied to its core business as a credit union. On March 13, the U.S. Department of Justice formally answered the complaint and the court named Judge Griesbach to the case yesterday.

The March 19 letter from the court that announced Griesbach's appointment to the case also announced a scheduling conference call which will be held May 9 that will establish a schedule for filing and hearing motions, completing discovery and naming any expert witnesses.
