CALABASAS, Calif. — A series of outages on Thursday led to a three-hour shutdown of Digital Insight's main data center, the company said.
The company said the problems began about 10 a.m. Pacific time when a utility services failure caused a power outage at its primary data center in Westlake Village, which provides online banking services to thousands of credit unions and banks.
The primary backup system that's supposed to maintain a continuous supply of power to the data center also had failed and was being serviced at the time of the outage, the company said.

"During the servicing, all systems were on a secondary backup system, which also failed and led to the outage," said Tobin Lee, senior manager of corporate communications for Intuit Inc., Digital Insight's corporate owner.
"For prolonged outages, we have a disaster recovery process in place. If our network operations experts deem it necessary, all systems roll over to our redundant data center in Georgia. In this case, systems were restored before that decision had to be made, but we were prepared to do so," Lee said.
Lee said the "security and integrity of Digital Insight's systems remain intact and there is no risk to our clients or their customers. We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused some of our clients and their end users."
