DENVER -- In a team-up with two state leagues and with a national and poignant "support the troops" reach, CUNA unveiled plans this week to help build two homes for two wounded war veterans, one in Denver and the other in Minneapolis-St. Paul, in conjunction with the Democratic and Republican conventions later this summer.
The home building and $150,000 fund-raising element is being coordinated by CUNA partnered with a variety of "support the troops" organizations, state governors as well as the Democratic and GOP National Committees in addition to the Credit Union Association of Colorado/Wyoming and the Minnesota Credit Union Network.
The disabled vets, picked by the New England-based "Homes for Our Troops" organization to receive the homes, have already been identified and are making plans to move their families into the residences once they are completed this summer prior to the conventions.
