WASHINGTON — Senator Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) is working on regulatory relief legislation containing a lot of things banks want but few that credit unions seek, say CU lobbyists.
Among other things, the legislation would make more community banks eligible for an 18-month exam schedule, increase small business loans for thrifts, remove limitations on auto loan investments and repeal the prohibition on bank interest for business checking.
CU lobbyists are reaching out to senators to get more credit-union friendly provisions included in the legislation.
