LANSING, Mich. — NuUnion Credit Union has teamed up with the Capital Area District Library to help local women become more financially savvy and empowered.
Free financial advice will be offered as part of a Lifestyle Series. The Especially for Women portion of the series features four seminars based on the philosophy of guest expert Glinda Bridgforth, a financial coach who appeared on Oprah’s popular “America’s Debt Diet” series. The series kicks off with participants learning that it’s never too late to start taking control of their financial future by clarifying and setting goals, and then translating them into concrete and actionable plans–a budget. NuUnion’s own Robin Stewart and Julia Taylor-Young will provide strategies, tips, and tools to help participants establish a path to success.
The second seminar in the series, Especially for Women– the Debt Diet with Glinda Bridgforth–features Bridgforth herself. Bridgforth, author and owner of a financial consulting practice in Detroit, was also a financial coach for Oprah’s popular “America’s Debt Diet” series. During her seminar, she’ll address the practical steps of financial management and explore the deep-seated barriers to financial health. Books will be available for sale and signing. A second seminar had to be added and both are filled at capacity of 100 people each.
